ABB Robotics AB is leading in robot based automation with 250,000 robots installed worldwide.
The company develops and manifactures industrial robots used in a wide range of applications - from car production plants, and the food, pharmaceutical and consumer electronics industries, through to chocolate making. More than 90% of the production is exported and all the large car manifactures in the world are among the customers.
The company has a large R&D department which develops the mechanical unit, software and hardware for the robot controller.

Newcon Data AB has during the years, from 1999 to 2015, performed a number of software projects for ABB Robotics, related to the IRC5 and S4Cplus robot controllers.
 Platform for development of device drivers
- Design specification, development and fault tracing of software for an event driven platform for development of device drivers for industrial networks.

- Development and fault tracing of device drivers for industrial networks such as DeviceNet, PROFIBUS-DP, PROFINET, EtherNetIP and Interbus.

- Fault tracing and customer support concering I/O handling and industrial networks in the IRC5 robot controller.

- Designspecification, development and fault tracing of software for object orientented API, handling I/O in the robot controller.
